So just a curiousity ? here. My ses light comes on during the wait to start mode. But other than that my ses light has never come on none during pmd problems not with my tranny slipping not ever. How would one go about verifying that the system works?

Have you ever scaned for codes before and come up with anything?

Use your Carcode, you can manually command it on. Or try unplugging your wastegate solonoid.

X2 on Matt's post. If you want it to come on and check the code you can always unplug your optical sensor cable and start your truck. It will come on and you can check the code.

Maybe I'll try my optical sensor my gl4 has already bypassed the wastegate selenoid. Matt I don't understand what you mean by command it on with carcode.

There is an option in carcode to manually turn the SES on and off. I did it yesterday while playing around...

I think its where you can turn on/off cylinders and glow plug system and all that.

Must be up in the enhanced area.

It must be working fine if it goes on during WTS.. Be happy your truck runs so good that it never goes on!

I would worry if it didn't go on with key on / engine off. (meaning someone did the ol' pull the bulb trick, or PCM issue perhaps)... IF that is what you are thinking PCM fault maybe... Cracking an injector line while running should give a Cylinder misbalance code, but may not at idle... Could try the FS solonolid as mentinoed above too, I've never tinkered with that, so I can't comment.

So which plug on the ip is the optical sensor. Hard to see without removing the upper intake. I know which one is the shut off selenoid but it looked like there was 2 more. I am assuming it's the one with 6 wires

I think you're right. It has six wires. It is on the top center of the IP. You should be able to disconnect it w/ your fingers if the motor isn't hot. Otherwise use a screw driver. you can see it if you look from the either side of the truck.
