Serpentine belt

Hi guy, does anybody know how long serpentine belt I need when the vacuumpump is deleteed? It's on a -96 Suburban with a single alternator...

I believe it's either 100.5" or 99.5" I have read both, don't quote me but I think you can get away with either. The belt tensioner should handle the +/- 1"

I'am a bit confused right now...I called the dealer to order a new belt and he says the heatercontrols are operated by vacuum so I need the vacuumpump...?

I have the F-vin engine...please educate me guys.

The person at the dealership is a moron. The ONLY thing the vacuum pump is there for is to supply vacuum to the waste gate actuator (VIN "F" & "S") and to the EGR valve (if VIN "S") via the control solenoids on the rear of the driver's valve cover. The HVAC system is electro-mechanically controlled.

You are in Norway, there is a version of truck with vac pump for the hvac.

I have seen it for the OZ version here in the forum.

So you have to check it.

As far as belt, it is usually 1 to 2 inch shorter.
The belt length is coded in the part number.

Like example above: 4060995 split into 4-06-0995.
4 is groove belt
06 is 6 groove
0995 is 99.5 inch.

Original is usually 1015 (101.5 inch) or 1025 (102.5 inch).

The vacuumpump is history, the heater is working fine and the lenght of the new belt is 2550mm...thanks guys.
