I'm sure its been brought up before, but I've only found references here and there for it.

Some people are using it, but their product list specifically points out that its not for 1996 GM diesels, so...what's the verdict? If it does work, what doesn't work? Does it mostly work, except for 1 or 2 things?

Also, is there any other gauge scanner that could be used on the gm diesels for close to the scangauge's price?

The cool one from PLX that just plugs into the ALDL connector is only for OBDII, but you can get multiple gauges on one display at least with OBDI and PLX. And not all of our defined ALDL data is standard which is why not all the stuff will work right with these things.

Scanner software, netbook, and small LCD you can mount in/on dash, power inverter for netbook.

I'm curious as well, as I have a '96. I do remember hearing a couple years ago when I was first looking into that I think Scangauge II will NOT show boost, and maybe NOT show MPG. I think that's what turned me off from it in the first place, but I'm back to see if it's been updated or if people here have found a way to show that data.

Why would it not be able to work with just '96 GM Diesels. What's so different between a '96 6.5 and a '99 6.5? or even '97?

As I understand it:
96 and 97, is a mish mash so to speak, there is a mix of OBD1 in with the OBD11, for example they use an OBD1 ABS controller for those years. 98 is the first year that they went all OBD11 compliant.

For what its worth Autoenginuity works on Pocket PC and Palm also.

Cheers

From what I remember scangauge didn't show an accurate MPG and a few other functions were iffy....I also remember that there was a fix in the works that needed you to switch ALDL cables......Might be worth a call to scangauge.
