So I'm finally getting around too doing some sandblasting. Made my self a little sandblast booth to contain the mess and recycle the sand. So my ? is I'm using some media from a company called Kleen Blast it's black and is non silica says it's dust free (yeah right). Anyway as I was blasting the metal turned from shiny to dark and I thought I was getting moisture and basically reoxidizing but after I went back and looked at it it appeared to be dust that the little bit of moisture from the air was causing to stick. I took a rag and some brake cleaner and most of it wipe right off. So should I be using a diff media? A water separator? Any thoughts?

I don't know, never used them but thought it being black and all. I think they are used when you don't want pitting on the surface.

I actually want a textured surface to promote paint adhesion. Hopefully you won't think my weld look too bad when you see the other side. My friend the welder died on me last spring so I'm on my own

fine grade Glass Beads.

looks and feels like fine sand, strips and cleans very well. heavy paint/rust takes a little bit of work, leaves a nice texture that accepts paint well after proper washing/cleaning

I just use silica sand as I want fast rust removal and a rough surface.

Hello ak diesel,

Do not take a normal Sand...that takes a long Time because once it used he is no longer consists of sharp...

A Water Separator must have otherwise the nozzle glued you constantly.

Walnut is only for the cleaning of sensitive parts such as Aluminium and Rubber...

Walnut had Oils in Shell and then you need to do clean really before you paint it...

I take Aluminiumoxid(I think it is the same what Leo takes...?!This is a black shiny Material.....)

Greetings
Gunar

I remember buying this stuff at Tractor supply, It's a pretty 'sharp' grit. Won't absorb moisture.

Northern Tool has it too.
