Has anyone heard of running a diesel engine on jet fuel? I have heard of a guy running a tractor on it before.... did not talk to him though just talked to the guys at the airport who said he would come by and pick up any jet fuel that was drained from a plane for maintenance and not re-used. I also know that there are planes out there with diesel engines designed to run on jet fuel, but I did not know if they are designed specially for it or not. If I was bold enough to give it a go I could probably get a hundred gallons a year for free, maybe more if I asked around, but it would not be worth it if I blew something up.

It is essentially a multi-fuel compression ignition engine. The 6.2/6.5 family of engines, essentially unmodified, can, has and does run perfectly fine on filtered WVO, vegetable oil, used motor oil, used ATF, B100 and biodiesel blends, used hydraulic fluid and even kerosene. Oh, and WD-40, too! We ran our vehicles on JP-4 all the time when I was in the Army. Jet-A is a very light oil essentially. Jet engines are just rotary compression high speed diesels, in theory yes your 6.5 should be able to run on it with probably some injection timing changes.

If I were you, I would blend it in with diesel/biodiesel fuel as an extender more so since you are apparently getting it for free.

Yes on the above.
Cut it 50/50 with diesel and you wont notice a difference. Add your favorite lube to keep the Ip and injectors happy -which you should be doing anyways...

I've been quite happily running a 96 TD with 50/50 hydraulic oil, and ATF for a few months now. Will is correct. I never even notice the difference. I do Centrifuge it back to a nice clean state. Its like getting an "economic" 30mpg.

IIRC, JetA has lower BTU than highway fuel and had read where others reported lower mileage when they used the 'waste / spill' fuel. So, yes it will work and adjust for lubrication as others commented. As Husker mentioned, am sure that there are injection timing changes that will better take advantage of the fuel but am not aware of anybody whom developed a fuel curve for this.

I'll give some a try and let yall know if I see some difference (doubt I will as it is a stock truck and I drive it pretty easy) I usually add some 2 cycle oil when I fill up so I will add a little more to the Jet-A.

I've run some in mine with no problems, and my uncle used to run his 92 7.3l on it as he got it for free from a friend who did jet annuals. Worked just fine. You will notice a slight drop in power with it, but otherwise it was fine. Do add a lubricity additive like 2 stroke oil to save your fuel system.
