Just wondering how serious a threat these are to my 206000 mile motor? Also are there any upgrades ie roller rockers?

Did mine @ 120mils as I was in the area, they were ok but I change them anyway.. took ever thing off.. Bill Heath meant there was no need just pull the old ones and tap in the new with a socket the same size as the head...

At 260 I would think their getting hard & brittel..

Roller rockers wouldn't really work. The rocker arms are shaft mounted like the old Mopars.

Mine had 270,000 on them but I don't know if they had ever been replaced. If you have to pull the valve covers it wouldn't hurt to replace them.

I have rebuild a handfull of these 6.2/6.5's and have yet to find a brittle or broken button. they all where as plyable as new button, the engines had between 250 and 600 km on them.
I would'nt worry about it to much, there's plenty of other parts that can fail too.

They are 2 diff items
Lifters run up and down on the cam.
rockers operate the valves. The lifter rod seperates the 2

I know, I was just being facetious. I had a brain f@rt and mistook one for the other.

The rockers are a stamped steel unit just like the MOPAR yesssss

Replace the buttons if your in there.
If one breaks they can cause serious issues. If the rocker slides off the valve stem an then compresses the spring, the keepers can come out. GAME OVER

These are real cheap.

The roller setup was a custom made set.

The advantages are minimal with the 6.5 as the valve springs are so light.

The big deal is when you are running heavy springs on a performance engine.
The rollers help reduce the friction loading on the valve train.

The rockers on the 6.2/6.5 have always been rollers.

The old 5.7 diesels had standard type hydraulics at first and then the very late ones had rollers.
