Revving Problem

Hey yall,

So I started up my truck this morning (the 97 GMC) and its begun to have a bad revving problem. What I mean by this is when it is cold, and when I either come to a stop, push in the clutch, or just start it up, the idle sticks at around 1200. Had it this morning where it stuck at 2000 rpm. Its getting quite annoying, not to mention burning a good deal of gas in the process. Have tried lubing the throttle linkage to no avail, and have had a tune up done, which also didn't fix the problem. Once the truck warms up, the problem stops. If I punch the gas pedal when it has this issue, it doesnt completley get rid of it, but it brings it down a few hundred rpm. Its had this issue to a slight extent ever since I purchased the vehicle, but this is the worst I have ever seen it. I'm thinking an electrical or computer issue. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Check for codes. Clean the throttle body. Clean the MAF sensor. Remove and clean the idle air control if it has one - 1st part to replace. Check for intake leaks with carb cleaner. Check PCV system and all vac hoses for leaks, missing, cracked boots. Check brake booster for ruptured diaphragm or other failure - clamp vac line from it when engine is running away at 2000 RPM.

Ok cool, will do. Just a couple questions, where exactly is the brake booster line, and what does it do? Also, would I be able to use contact cleaner on the MAF, or do I need dedicated cleaner?

Also, I take it carb cleaner would work fine for the throttle body. Sorry if I seem like a noob, just new to the field
