Replaced Injection Pump and No Start

I hate to even throw this up on a thread because I have no idea what is going on. Here's what I have done. I rebuilt my injectors, and set pop pressure. Replaced fuel filter manager and did FTB mod. Replaced the injection pump. Bled the fuel system at t valve and at top of fuel filter. Cranks over fast but no fire. Swapped PMD. Checked connectors for connection. I'm very worried that when I bolted the injection pump to the gear that the chain may have skipped a tooth. Is that even possible? If it skipped a tooth, would it absolutely not fire? If it is a tooth off, how can I check without pulling the timing chain cover off?
 
Most of the time, you probably need to crank longer with rest in between so the starter will not get burnt.
 
Are you getting fuel out of an injector? if you crack open the #1 you should have fuel weeping out,if not I would check the Fuel shut off.
 
Does sound like air still in the system. It can be a PITA to start them after an IP R&R.
 
Even though you have fuel at the filter manager, you still have to fill the ip. This can take a while and you need to crank it in short bursts.

Once the ip is primed, you need to bleed the lines. Air in the lines is compressable and when the fuel valve fires it will compress the air in the lines. At cranking rpm, this keeps the pressure in the lines below the injector pop pressure and you get no fuel in the cylinder. The solution is simple: crack the line at each injector and bleed out the air by franking the engine over a bit.

If that doesn't fix it, you've probably got something hooked up wrong or missed a connection somewhere....

Thanks guys. It makes perfect sense. What is happening is an action like an air over oil strut. The injection pump is injecting fuel into the line, but all it is doing is compressing the air in the line to the same pressure the pump is making. Three lines were bleeding themselves however. I'm sure it was pretty difficult for the injection pump to make the injectors fire with a leak in the lines. There was litterally fuel spraying out of one injector and line connection. I hate it when injector lines don't seal up. I have had problems getting lines to seal up before. Does anyone have any insite on making these lines seal up better? Some aircraft lines are made similar, but they never have sealing issues like these lines do. Anyway, the truck is running. I'm just going through and fixing a few leaks and timing and tdco.
 
I figured out why it's leaking. The injector lines I bought from ssdousche 70 thousand miles ago have a much shollower flare on them then stock. So if the lines were torqued down too tight the first time, they will never seal up again because the washer that pushes against the flare is pushing on the flat of the injector threads. I vow that I will never buy anything from anyone again for this truck without asking you folks here. It is not the first time I have gotten lower quality stuff thinking I am saving a few bucks. It just doesn't happen that way. You pay for what you get. Anyone know where I could get lines with deep flares instead of these crappy things? Here is what I mean if you don't understand.

Well, that's interesting.....

As to new lines, I believe if you go to a local diesel shop they might be able to bend and flair you up a set. Not cehap though.

Maybe post a "wanted" add for some inthe classifieds on this forum?

Even some good used OEM ones would probably do....
 
I'm looking now at used OEM. My originals were corroded to the injectors when I replaced the heads a few years ago. I always thought I did something wrong or didn't torque the lines enough, but it was crappy injector lines all along. They were always wet around them. Man I hate doing the same things over and over again.
