So the water pump and lower rad hose and drain cock were all leaking on my truck o joy. So I'm halfway there or not even I got the ac compressor off rad out all hoses off fan off and tensioner off. Then I was trying to get the vacuum pump off well both 10mm bolts on the back top stripped so I said hell with it moved over to the power steering bracket well got all the bolts off besides the one on the bottom near the steering column was to tight and I didn't have enough half inch extensions and forgot that I owned a impact gun but also didn't have another half inch extension to reach it. So I'm looking for a wright up do I have to remove the pulleys off the vacuum pump and power steering pump. Please tell me I don't have to take the balancer off again lol.

The only 2 "Bitch" bolts on a 6.2 and 6.5 are exactly the rear bracket mid block brace for the PS pump and the rear starter brace to block. I hate both.

The water pump has 6 bolts on the backside to the timing cover plate. Yep that plate has to come off.

You looked up the best HO pump? Going thread on or 4 bolt to fan clutch? Now is the time to decide and only use "new" water pumps as rebuilt can have the same balance flow issue the new ones fixed.

I already got all my parts going with a bolt on style 98 fan clutch 9 blade fan and so on. I already have all the parts. I don't need anything fancy for severe cooling or a fan that kicks in early I did all the research and yes I got a new water pump not reman. So that rear bolt on the side of the motor has to come out looks like I'm using my impact and buying a new extension tomorrow lol what about the vacuum pump how do I get those bolts out I see one is behind the damn pulley.

PS pulley stays on to just get it out of the way. Don't forget the rear studs on the PS pump. The bracket comes off with the pump so the pulley doesn't have to come off.
Foggy memory on the vac pump, but, I didn't remove the pulley on it to get it off.

Well if you removed the bolts that held the vacuum pump to the bracket mine are stripped. So just unbolt the bracket for the PS pulley and move it out of the way like the ac condenser. Remove the alternator know I just need to figure out how to remove the vacuum pump bracket before I take my plasma cutter to it tomorrow. :rage: lol I think pulling my 7.3 motor was easier I did that in a few hours 6 bolts on the trans bell housing and the two motor mounts turbo down pipe and disconnect the harness from the firewall and everything came out with it lol. I also had my dad helping but anyway. Hopefully it doesn't snow tomorrow I like when the weather people are wrong I should have thought about that before taking it apart in the driveway. :banghead:

Not the best pic but all the bolts on the backing plate have to come off, the vac pump should not matter.

The vacuum pump bracket is over the one stud on passenger side I took the nut off then behind the bracket there is another nut.

OK, it's been awhile. I'll have to remember that if I ever get mine back together.

Well you have a few 6.5's from the looks of it lol you have references to go off of. Also there is a sensor I guess on the driver side right behind the alternator before the first injector it has a plug on it I pulled the plug off and the top of the sensor came with it what sensor is that lol? The water temp sender?

In the front side of the head? Sounds like the water temp sender.
Yea I was trying to get room to try and unbolt the bracket from there but that was in the way went to unplug it and the plug port came off the top with it.

Well I looked up removing the vacuum pump looks like I have a bastard truck all my bolts come through the back side and the two are stripped. Where is my crying smiley lol anyway I have to remove the whole bracket some how people were saying the pulley has holes in it to remove the bolts I swear my pulley is solid? Unless I'm blind but I could have sworn that thing was solid and there was no holes in it.

I haven't had a vac pump since 08, IIRC the 3 bolts are accessed from behind. Sounds like removing the bracket is your next move. I know it's easy without a vac pump.:)

Would you recommend taking if off since since I have the egr deleted and manual wastegate or I should leave it until I get the f chip or tune. I wonder if my truck is reflashed the previous owner did mod it a good amount especially that 6" exhaust lol. Maybe I shit pop the ECM open and look at the chip for markings.
Or do you mean the engine your building shit after 2 months I would of just said forget it and went and bought a 12v 4bt to put in it lol. I almost scrapped my 7.3 when I got it and after 6 excruciating months I still wanted to blow it up or shoot it a bunch of times. Until I finally had it running good but it was still a heaping pile besides the motor. I don't have patience for a long project especially my daily driver.

It's been a long time but IIRC, if the egr is blocked and you leave the wiring to the solenoids, the vac pump can be removed.
