Installed a reman pump on a customers 97 truck, worked fine for a few weeks and he developed a leak, just checked it out, its coming out of the rubber boot area, you can watch it drip aprox once a sec. Vendor shall remain anon unless they screw us over. Just want to see if there is anything we can do before trying to return it, which takes time, money and time. TIA. Said vendor is closed today and will be contacted on Monday.

I'm maybe being a little think here, but what pump we be talking about?

Injection pump?
Lift Pump?
Water Pump?
Washer fluid pump?

The only pump I know that has a rubber boot is the injection pump, and I can't post about the other pumps here, except the lift pump, ;)

But yes, its an injection pump, ):h:crazy:

You and I both know that the fuel solenoid is what lives under the 'rubber boot'.

Most likely a seal leak...

No fuel hose leaks, no line leak-if it was, it would be blowing out all over the place.

We had a look at his old pump, its just a flat housing with 2 wires, so where would it leak from? The actual solenoid or where it bolts/threads into the pump?

Is that hard to reseal? Would rather fix it in the truck than pull the bloody thing back out for another pump, :mad2:

LOL... x3. or 4. I was being a smart-arse with the 'what pump' question, not wanting to point fingers.:D

IIRC, you gotta pull it all out to fix that seal anyway, so I think a different IP is in your future...

IIRC there is a weep hole in the back of the solenoid....I think....been a while since I have had to look at an IP...

Not so,if the taper at the line end does not seal a 100% it could weep fuel trough the nut treads and run down to the sol.

There is an 0 ring on the sol where it treads in the IP,prob an other one where the sol seperates from its body,2 screws on the face that hold it together.
