This is the part, at least on my truck that makes the annoying ticking/knocking sound on start up and shut down.

It was starting to drive me crazy, it is so much nicer now that it does not make all that racket.

It is a pain in the rear to get in and out. This is the one that control either fresh air or recirculates inside cab air.

I can try to add a picture later of were it is located. You definitely need small hands to get this in and out.

I picked up the part at the wrecking yard. Mainly for practice on how to get it out without breaking anything.

It cost me $10.00 for the part + $1.00 for a warranty. The part number for it is #16149192, you can get it at rock auto.

Here is what it looks like,

Here is what the old one looks like on the inside,

I will add some pictures tomorrow if someone needs better explanation on were this thing is located.

I hope this helps out somebody else!

Mine still works fine, but it does make some racket from time to time. Need to break down and swap it out.

That is how mine started out, every once in a while. Then every start up and shut down.

The gears inside start to bind, that is why it makes the noise.

Cant they be cleaned and regreased rather than buying a new one?

That is a good question.

My old one, the grease was still good. The two larger gears is were it was binding up and clicking.

Brand new from rock auto they were around $24. I paid $11 with a warranty at the wrecking yard.

As much of a pain it is/was to get out and back in, I would not want to play around with attempting to fix it.

You will see what I am talking about when you take your out. :mad2:

If you do decide to do it your way please post it up on here. I would like to leave this open to as many options as we have.

Mine had failed completely. Motor locked up.

I had one fry the board.

A friend of mine had the clicking/grinding. Turns out the motor had lost reference on the limits and was just overrunning the gear on it's stops.

Per request, here is were this little black box is located. My pictures are crappy(like always).

If you look in between the heater box and fan motor cover here,

If you look up in between the gap and to the right you will see this black box.

This should give you a general knowledge of were it is located.

I realized I never closed this one out after the install.

I replaced the click click click one with the one from the wrecking yard. It has since worked perfectly, no issues.

I still suck at taking pictures!

Thanks Marty. I know my turn is coming sooner or later with these motors. I like to see fix-it threads followed up.

Hi Marty, I'm having the same issue with the actuator so I'll buy a new one.
May I ask you if it's better to remove/install from below or above (glove box)
Thanks,
René
