I am defanately interested in a heavy shock for the front of my rig due to the heavy plow I hang on it.

However for the rear, I don't really load up the bed EVER, or tow EVER.

So, I don't want to make the rear any stiffer or harsher than it is.

Should I just get a lower end shock, such as a cheap Delco, or Monro Reflex for the rears?

I'm getting KYB Monomax's for the front.

I posted this in suspension, but since I don't have a show truck thats all jacked up, it got no attention.

I also posted this here before at the same time, feeling like the result would be what it was over there, but a mod deleted it. So Mods you can delete the thread over in suspension, here is where it belongs.

Thanks guys!

I don't think I would get a lower end shock. Look into those soulistic shackles. I hear they are good. I was thinking about a set but I usually have some weight in the back so it's not so bad. It's better than my jeep!

I always have weight, I just never come close to maxing it out or loading it up... never makes it squat, but always a consistant weight.

I've heard bad things about timbrens. I heard they just squish down. You have better experiences?

I plan on running an extra 800-1000lbs of ballast in the back for plowing. My utiltiy body lets me put weight close to 4' past the rear axle, so that'll raise the front end weight considerably.

Going Delco Gas rear, and KYB Monomax's for the front.

Mid range rear, and top line/HD fronts. Toss up between them or Billsteins.... Going KYB. If i dont' like em, i'll switch it up next season.

I have never used the timbrens. They look like a more dense rubber that replaces the stock one that would make it more firm. Sounds like a rough ride with no plow.

That sounds like enough weight in the read to smooth things out.

The KYB Monomax's are fantastic up front. handly my 1000lb plow like a dream...

The softer choice I made primarily for money reasons (got a good deal on some wholesale closeaouts) are decent. They don't recoil as firm as the monomax's, but it does allow some suspension travel, but smoothly.

I'll run these for the year, and probably get mono's in the rear before next winter.

All 4 shocks removed had absolutely no resistance in the collapsing direction...

Needless to say the truck handle great, and rides like a solid new truck.

I put KYB Monomaxs up front too, because they are advertised as being appropriate for heavy engines and plows. Was going to do the rear too, which needed both springs and shocks, however I added the 5k airbags first and you know what? I don't see any need to spend any more money for the rear, because the bags make it ride beautiful. One of the best additions I've made to the truck.
