I have have looked at a '04 3500 QC/SB Cummins powered Ram for about the last 2 weeks or so, and finally went out to drive it today. It had great throttle response, very clean, and had a brand new set of Goodyear Wrangler ATS Pro Grade tires (still have the little rubber nubs on them). Has about 53k on it, clearance lights and also has Line-X in the bed. Cloth seats, but has a 6 disc CD changer, and a set of black nerf bars. Paint is in very good condition as well. They are asking 24,900 for it, and are a thousand short of giving me my payoff of my truck. I call them back tomorrow to see if we can get a little closer. This is the first truck I have drove since I started looking and really, really enjoyed and liked over all.. Truck looks very well taken care of. I do also enjoy the sound of it as well. I guess I'm a sucker for the sound of a Cummins. I keep you all up to date with what I do, whatever it may be. I'll get ready for my beating from all of ya.

No beating from me, IMO each of these trucks have their pros and cons, and every brand has their issues, if it puts a smile on your face and gets from A to B and burns #2 its all good.

Dave?... Dave who? I don't know any Dave... I USED to know a guy here named Dave but he disappeared or something...

;)J/K Whatever is right for you man.

You DO know of course that that great Cummins is wrapped with a Dodge:eek:

:D

Just curious as to why? Nothing wrong with other brands or anything but trade in an 08 for an 04? You're going backwards.

For us 6.5's how many of us by an older truck when we see it cause it has a 6.5 in it? lol

Hey best of luck man. Hope it all works out for you!

Well for a couple reasons. One, being out of work for going on 3 months, it's been real tough around here. So we have looked into a lot of things lately. First and formost is the motgage. Wife is working so that helps. I've done a few things on the side to try to hold up my side. I'll be back to work by the end of the month but I don't want to fall behind on certain things. I will get out from under this truck and have a monthly payment that is half of what mine is now. I'll still have a diesel, which I'm happy about.

Also I am getting a truck again that I will be able to get near or over 20mpg (was able to get that with my '06 LLY, which I should have never got rid of that truck), so while I'm traveling for work again, that'll save me some money as well. I will be honest, I'll also be getting away from the emisions bullcrap, which I can say I have slowly become less and less a fan. Highway at 70 mph, my best is 17.5. Another thing is with all the off road driving I do for work, I wanted a SFA truck. I'm happy with my purchace and will have pics up hopefully sometime tomorrow.

Back in 2005 thru 2007 I owned a 2002 Dodge with the cummins. It got great fuel economy and pulled anything I wanted. I really like the truck, like stated above every truck has issues. I sold the truck to come to Germany. I know own a older truck cause it is what I can afford. I would like to own a newer Diesel truck but, with 3 kids and 1 on the way money is tight.

Maybe one day!

Wish you luck with your new dodge Diesel truck!

So ya already got it? SWEET!

Lemme know if you have any questions on it.

Also, if it does seem to br running sluggish or your mileage seems crappy, other than changing the fluids and filters, it probably needs the dog crap run out of it.

If it's been idling around town or hasn't been driven hard, it will carbon up and you'll see crappy performance out of it.

If that's the case and you don't have access to a heavy trailer (10K+), go to Home Depot or RSC and just rent a backhoe on an equipment trailer for a few hours and drive it around hard.

Get the boost and EGT's up a bit and she'll run 100% better afterwards.

I have it now. Got back a few hours ago. Everything went real smooth. I'm going to run out and take some pics in a few and post them up.

I will make sure to ask you any questions I have on the truck and engine. I figured you would be the guy to ask. Thanks for your help in advance.

There aren't many things I haven't ripped apart on a 3rd Gen, so we can get ya strait.

Now......let's see some damn pics!

I'm like a crack fiend for a a new truck!

Nice...! You got any plans for it yet or you just gonna drive it?

I kept my toolbox that I had in the bed of my '06 LLY, so that is already in and locked down. A friend of mine that has an '06 Cummins 1 ton has the 2.5" leveling kit on his and it looks really nice. So I think I will put that on first. Also want to put on a S&B intake and thinking of a MBRP cat-back. Who knows, might take my self into a turbo back, we'll see how it sounds with the cat on first. It already has the roof clearance lights, so I would like to do the amber lights with the smoked lenses. I always like how that looks.

Hope to start with the leveling kit and maybe the intake done by the end of June. By then, I'll be back at work for about a month, and hopefully have a couple two three buck saved up. Exhaust maybe by the end of July.
