RE How do you use your A-team Turbo

Spoke with a gentleman yesterday that was using an A-team Turbo on a 35 foot motor home hauling a 20 foot enclosed box trailer for his racing vehicle. Constant 12 psi boost at highway speed, and told me that he had went from 7 miles to the gallon of fuel to 9.5 just by the addition of the turbo. Also was happy with the way the vehicle ran, never thought of the use on motor homes.

What else is out there that uses a gm turbo charged 6.5 or 6.2? Most owners I never hear from again. Testimonials? would be interesting to here from folks.

I use mine as a daily driver on a 1995 2500 4x4 suburban that has a military 1986 6.2 repower in it including the J code precups in the 6.2 heads. I also use it to tow once and awhile. The 6.2 has been converted to a DS4. I also have a 4" Duramax kitty on it to pass yearly emissions. I have had it at 7600' elevation and ran great although I did adjust the 6 banger tune. Precups limit boost to 17 PSI and I would use diamond precups if I did it over.

I use the other ATT on a 1993 K2500 extended cab pickup with a DB2. 6.5 NA precups in 6.5 heads. 6.2 bottom end. It is also a daily driver and Dad says it is smooth. As in the smoothest vehicle we own as far as throttle control and braking. (Rides rough like you would expect.) It is daily driver use with occasional Hot Shot RV delivery or parts delivery via 24' - 28' cargo trailer. Boost has hit 18 PSI. It can pass a snap test for emissions with minor IP adjustments...

The 1993 when used for full time Hot Shot towing parts delivery over an extreme route 7% grades would get 7 MPG at 43 MPH with all common modifications but with the GM3 turbo. Towing a trailer that was just as heavy with the Suburban and A Team Turbo on the same route got me 10.4 MPG and 55 MPH. The power to make 55 MPH is way more impressive than the also welcome MPG improvement. The cooling fan kicking in less with the A Team Turbo is also a welcome benefit.

When I changed from the GM3 to the ATT on the 1993 Dad said "It just motors through 2nd." I have to agree. It is night and day difference in available power and one of the few power adders that improve MPG with your foot firmly planted with the throttle on the floor for a long period of time.

Mine became my wife's DD, I would use it when towing. Most loads were 27k plus gvwr. I am able to maintain 55 mph climbing out of a nearby river valley which is about a 4% grade. It isn't a lack of power, I just keep it below 1050 F,

The DOT man wold have a stroke if he saw a 1 ton pickup towing that load around here. You would get stopped and run through the wringer. I got stopped with a 10500# rated Dual axle trailer behind my 1/2 ton Dodge with a suburban on the trailer. I passes his eyeball check but gave me grief that I was pushing it. I guess you can get away with more if you live in flat land.

I know it is kind of small but I have combined truck and trailer of over 28000 lbs. towed it 1000 miles and 11 miles to the gallon doing it.
