Hi All,
If I disconnect the batteries on my '96 Suburban for service I understand that I will need to enter a radio code to get the radio to work again.

1) is this the case?
2) i do not have the code so how can I avoid a trip to the dealer for this one?
3) do we have resource on the site to get around having to pay GM to reset the radio?

Thanks!
Ted

Shouldn't have to if you disconnect the batteries. Only if you were to swap the HU around to a different vehicle.

Even then depends if it's enabled. I used to have the procedure for doing it but if you search the net it should be around somewhere. There is a procedure to get a certain code from the radio then you call an 800# the dealer doesn't want you to have and an automated service will ask you to enter the code you retrieved then give you the unlock code. The whole thing is really stupid. The radios ain't worh all that BS IMHO.
