i know its not engine related but it is our trucks body style. where are the bolts that hold hte passenger side quarter panel on, and how many are there? i know there are a few that you can get at from opening the hood on "top" of the quarter panel, but are there any more that i can't see? i've got to stop some rust before it gets out of control. the paint is starting to bubble up a little bit so its only a matter of time. thanks.

There are alot! I think There is some you gotta get by opening the door if that makes sence..

update. theres really nothing i can do to stop the rust short of cutting it out and welding in a patch. i may look for a quarter panel from LMC truck some time down the road. right now its only about a dime sized spot but its totally rusted through. :mad2: i touched it w/ the tip of a flat bladed screwdriver and with almost no pressure the screwdriver went right through. oh well, guess some part has to rust first huh? :prrr:

Ya know Dave, nothing lasts forever.

You are right though. Take care of that rust before it gets too crazy. Go talk to a local bodyshop and maybe ask where the truck is most prone to rust, and see if you can buy some patch panels.

Have fun.

Picked up a couple of rust free quarter panels from the local wreckers for $40 each here...

i know what you mean. it sucks indeed but i think whats bothering me the most is that i've only had the truck for 9-10 months. if i had owned it for its entire 13 years then i'd have a bit better outcome. but after a bit of body work and this quarter panel its probably getting taken to a body shop where the whole truck will be painted. either that or i may try my hand at painting it. my dad suggested Macco but i've heard their paint jobs are cheaper than desirable and i want it to last as its been repainted once already.

it is a good idea to stay away from maaco, but if you plan on walking into any LEGIT bodyshop for an overall on a pickup, your gonna be spending $5000+ on the project. Just remember, in the painting world, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If the guy down the street with no spray booth says $1500, your going to get a paint job that looks that way.

I am a body man and paint cars, so I know how these things go.
