The back up lights on my wifes 97 C3500 hardly ever come on, now matter how much you mess with the shifter (automatic). Is there something I can do to fix this? And/or can I easly tap into that wire in the cab somewhere and run it to a switch and a relay and add some flood lights to it?

If there is a Relay in the Fuse Box for them, it could just be Worn Out, a New one would Fix the Problem.

Or if there is some kind of Pressure Switch in the Column, that could be Worn Out as well.

I believe the back up lites are switched by the shifter switch on the tranny. Not 100% positive of that. I'd have to check the gm manual for that.

If I was you I would not over ride it.

I would just fix what ever is broke.

Reverse light is easy to diagnose, you just need a book to do it.

Not sure if it's the same setup but my blazer had the reverse light switch on the base of the steering column.

When i wired my reverse flood lights in i jsut tapped right off the factory backup light switch. my lights are only ~35 watts each however. I do plan on a relay and such later on, but if it ain't broke. ):h
