Where does everyone have their pyro gauge tapped in? Heath says in the cross over, but i hear people doing it in the passenger manifold? DOes anyone have any pics? Would be greatly appreciated for my ideas.... I am going to get the heath optix pyro gauge to mount right next to my heath boost gauge....

Mine's tapped on the passenger side exh manifold just below the turbo, on the engine side for a little cleaner look. If memory serves, there's a little square pad on each side, almost looking like it was cast there to provide a good spot for the probe.

The attached pic wasn't focused on the exh manifold, but you can make out the fitting & little square pad if you look close.

I did mine right under the turbo in the manifold. That is the best place IMO. There is a little flat spot that almost looks made for it. If you pull the wheel well you can get in there very easily with a drill and tap.

Same spot for me too. Extremely easy with wheel well off.
Perfect angle and access. Leave it running while drilling/tapping.

I think i am going to put mine in the manifold on the passenger side. My engine is apart so there is no need for the engine to be running:thumbsup:. Doing this now while it will be ten times easier. I think the heat reading will be the most accurate in the manifold. How hard was it to drill through the cast? Was the tap anything special?

The casting drills relatively easy. Most pyro probe fittings are 1/8" NPT. Pipe thread taps are tapered, so you want to thread the tap in a ways, then remove & see how far your probe fitting threads in before getting tight.

You want to avoid getting it threaded too far down the tap taper, so your pyro probe fitting goes in far enough, but also will tighten before the fitting bottoms in the threaded hole.

I put mine in exhaust manifold but in square boss between manifold and motor like on Kennedy's website in the tech tips. I thought it might be a bit more protected on that side.

Thats one heck of a down pipe plowboy.... Yeah, im going to put mine on the outside like yours... Thanks for the tips, they are greatly appreciated...
