Hey all,

With snow and mud upon us, its finally time to use the 4wd in the folks' 98 K2500HD push button 4wd.

But, we have found out that half the time, no lights are present on any of the buttons. The last time to get the 4wd to kick in, I shut it off, opened the door, pulled the fuse, inspected, and put back in, and it worked, but after I got it kicked in, 1 minute later, the lights went off, but the front axle stayed engaged the whole time.

Any thoughts? the module in the dash?

Thanks!

I have had to change both the switches on the dash and the motor on the axle. Seems there is some type of upgrade when you change the motor.

I never really cared much for our push buttons. They stranded us several times because they would not engage.

The wheels seemed like they had to turn for the 4 wheel drive to engage. If you were stuck the front wheels would not turn and they would not engage. You only have to go about 2' but if they don't turn they will not engage.

Mine is doing what seems like the same thing: it appears that the light goes 'Off' even though the functionality is normal. If I select another mode (Auto 4WD, 4WD, etc) the light will comes on for that mode. And sometimes the light stays on for the whole time, sometimes not. Sometimes I press the mode that I should already be in (usually 2WD) and the light turns 'On', but not always.

What I am noticing is that (at least in 2WD) the light is *very* dim rather than 'Off'.

Seeing as the unit appears to work normally despite the light going dim, I am ignoring it.
