I took apart my truck this weekend, to install my J code intake, marine injectors, and reflashed performance ecu. Now it has really nice bottom end torque, but as soon as the turbo starts to make boost the power drops off and the black smoke begins. I had the ecu flashed before I put the J code intake in and it had more power then. It feels around the same power as it did when it was stock.
I'm calling wester's and my diesel guy in the morning, but though I'd try to get an idea here first.
Any ideas??

Gave me a P0113 - IAT Sensor 1 circuit High Input.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't have one of those anymore. Did westers forget to delete that from the programming??

Westers would have deleted your EGR, not the IAT sensor. That sensor may be faulty sending the ECM the wrong info.

did you installed old style non egr intake which doesnt have ready hole for IAT sensor?
IAT sensor has approx ½" thread and gray plug on it on top of manifold..

The intake I got got rid of the egr, IAT sensor, and some other small black rectangular doohickey. Figured all J code intakes were the same.
Sorry no pics.

Without the MAP sensor (rect. doohichey) and the IAT sensor your ECM may be running blind.

If you are trying to eliminate the S code EGR see if you can find a F code intake. It will have the provisions for the IAT and MAP sensors I believe the J intake was only on non-turbo engines, pre electronic injection (no provisions for either sensor).

If I'm correct any intake from a 2500hd or 3500 after 1994 will work. There's a couple being parted out right close to me. This one will work nicely on my 88 blazer

Isn't a J code intake a 6.2 n/a intake?

As for the marine injectors, I have put some in that customers supplied and noticed alot more black smoke and a tad more power going by the SOP. Engine sounded different.

Westers are pretty good, very impressed with them,

Went by the wrecker and got the correct top today. fixed it right up. When I mash the pedal from a stop, all the contents of the cubby hole fall all over the floor.
Now if I can get my afe intake installed...
