All the pre cups in the crack free heads that i just had a valve job done on are cracked where does one buy new ones. plus the ones that are in the heads are the "square" marked ones. i would like the diamond cups or the older single dot T. i know Gm sells them but they are expensive was hoping to find some after marker

Diesel depot can get aftermarket precups. They don't stock them, but can have them in a couple days:thumbsup:. $95 plus shipping for a set of 8.$350 from gm parts direct.

ya but i just spent 150 to have a valve job on mine didnot see the precup cracks before. they werent clean enough or i just didnt look close enough

Show pictures of the cracks. From what i've gathered they often crack at the corners, as long as it doesn't go through or is too large its said to be alright.

This includes my head which as rebuilt locally 15k miles ago. Rebuilder said normal, and havn't had issues. I don't have a good closeup pic, but the engine rebuilder showed me.

I just got an Email from jamie at diesel depot and he says $12 each for diamonds.

Also says the are a little thicker so the pocket needs to be machined to get the correct protrusion.

ill put them up later but at any rate by MGW's listing them are the non turbo ones so i think the diamonds would be better

here are two of the worst ones but like i said they are the square ones and tiney compared to the diamonds or the squares. can precups successfuly be taken out of one set of heads and installed in another. my old heads with cracks between the valves have the T cups which are almost the same as the diamonds unless im wrong

They will tap right out.Use a hardwood dowel or brass punch and tap out through the injector hole. Since your heads were resurfaced the precups may need to be ground down some for proper height. If you deside to go with new precups ,try to find somewhere local to buy them. I'm finding out that diesel depot is slow about getting things done[4 days late picking my heads up]
