I see powersteering pumps w/out resevoir, and with resevoirs.

Autrozone even has a high-flo pump w/out resevoir.

Then I see some w/evo some without evo

I saw on one of the websites evo must come with resevoir.

Do I have EVO?

Is it hard to install the pump into the resevoir housing?

I replaced the one on my 94 when I built a hydraulic hay spear for it and had to add a remote reservoir for more capacity.

Its easy, one bolt(maybe two) and one fitting unless they changed them after my 94. It takes longer to clean the reservoir, than to change it. If your reservoir is good(no leaks or rust) I wouldn't pay more than $10 more for one with a reservoir.

HTH,

HTH,

Good info, so no O-rings or any gaskets ...

No way to change the pump only and leaving old housing still attached to hydroboost?

If your pump looks like what they used in the 80's, there's one big O-ring that seals to the main part of the reservoir and one O-ring where the high pressure fitting passes through the reservoir, the new pump should come with the required O-rings.

Just unscrew the high pressure fitting and two bolts from the rear of the reservoir, it should come off then.

Pretty much have to remove the high pressure line that goes to the hydroboost since you have to remove the fitting it screws into to remove the reservoir. PB-Blaster is your friend.

I think when you get your new pump it will be evident what needs to be done. As long your pressure line isn't to rusted, the hardest part will be removing/installing the pulley.

I have no ideal what EVO is, sorry.

HTH,

I'm pretty sure 96 or 97+ used a more powerful system, and that is what EVO is, considerably easier to steer than the earlier ones...

I Think I will just order that new hose also.

perhaps have them get both so I can have them both on hand come repair day.

Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) sensor. It tells the P/S pump how fast you are turning the wheel and it's position. It's at the bottom of steering column.

correct that, I do have that sensor bugger plug there... had to reach in and feel it out...

Power steering cooler line that plugs in back there didn't seem all to good either, the metal part :(

My lines all have that factory crimp from soft to hard lines. My hard lines are ok, the one coming to the cooler way behind there is in question.. Do I just cut that old connectors off and use power steering line with hose clamps over the barbs?

Pretty sure pressure lines require a crimp fitting. Return and cooler lines are OK with a barb and clamp

I'm not completely sure but pressure hoses may have to be purchased, not made. I once tried to get a hose made at a hyd. shop and was told this. I could be wrong though. someone else may know.
