Power loss

Welcome. You just found the greatest resource for 6.5 in the world.
Once this is dialed in, read all the stickies at a minimum- it will save you tons of money and headaches.

Several possibilities.

Knowing the fuel pressure at the injection pump (ip) inlet for this is important.
Ideally you should have 8-14psi at all times. It will run ok with less but as you near 0psi you can start having this issue. Putting a gauge in the rubber line near the ip is what many people do, or even the drain line. This kinda works but not accurately
If you find little or no pressure- then the lift pump isn’t working. If it has pressure you still don’t know if the rubber line is deteriorating and creates a flap inside restricting the flow- several people have replaced ip when it was just a hose.

ModMafia sells a fitting to tap an 1/8” sending unit out of all metal connections- best option. Then mount the gauge dash or somewhere you can read while driving. This is critical info for this diesel and should have been stock. Choose your gauge just know you need accurate readings down low so don’t get a 0-100 gauge. One that tops at 15 or 25 is best.

Replace the ip return line with clear tubing. Fuelline.com sells clear fuel methanol containing (which we have now) rated hose. You need a 6” long piece of 1/4” inside diameter. Not sure how short they sell. Other option is hardware store clear p s but it will need replacing in couple years. The line you replace- It is in an upside down “U” shape out the front of the ip near the oil fill. With the engine running you can see the fuel flowing out the ip. You are watching for a tiny trail of bubbles indicating air intrusion.
Also watching for contaminated fuel. The smallest bubbles can create havoc.

Electrical issues mess with the pmd and the ip. These are the fuel delivery system. GM grounding sucks. So, remove and clean all the engine grounds. Annoying, yes. But is a common problem. This honestly should be on a 5 year schedule unless you live in the rust belt. Then twice as often. Remember remove and clean wire side and the metal it connects to. Pay special attention to the on by the transmission dipstick. Its a pain and common fail point. Remove and clean the battery terminals as well.

There is more to chase but starting there is a must.
