Hey guys,

I have a good friend in need down is Jesup GA 31545 who has a blown HG or a crack somewhere. Some of you might know him as Crazy... and some may know him as Bruce....

He is set up down there in a lot selling Christmas Trees until the 24th of December with his 38 foot fifth wheel camper (about 16,500 lbs) and has blown a HG or worse, and has no way of tearing in to it to see what the problem is. Hes getting smoke from the exhaust and is blowing coolant out of the over flow bottle at a bad rate. When the cap is off it blows coolant out about 4 or 5 inches from the fill hole. Like a fountain. Supposedly there is no mixing of fluids.

We was wondering of any members here live in the area and if so, if they would be willing to help somehow. Crazy is in a bad way with money and has no tools and has never torn into a 6.5. But he could pay something but cant afford to have it towed or worked on in a shop right now.

Its a 97 Extended cab dually 6.5 TD.

He needs to get fixed up and head back to FL on the 24th.

Any Ideas or suggestions here??

Thanks!

Hopefully he can find somebody to pull the head and a place to get it checked.

In the mean time, post here and other places that he is looking for a head that has already been checked. There is no sense in installing a head that has not been checked. IMHO.

Maybe check Ebay and Craigslist.

Get gaskets, studs etc. ordered. He'll need them regardless.

I'm too far away but there are heads to be found around NC. Hate that I can't help.
I did a CL search of the area he is in (130 mile radius) and didn't find any heads.

Yup guys he went to the dark side.........Now has a 7.3l F**d oh well still the same guy, just driving crap now...

I call them 4 letter F-words! F**d! I have 3 7.3s! My powerstroke is the only one I hate! I could have shipped him a head to help out but I would have suggested K&W Block seal. Atleast to get him home. Used it for years on many different vehicles. Even did a 6.9 the other day that just wouldnt seal HGs. Owner said dope it and go! He is still using it to pull a small paver(if a paver can be called small!) around Louisville! Way too much load for the truck in its best days but still doing it! Well....here's to wishing him luck with ...well ya know!

yup, he bought the F**D... I guess it was well maintained and is in very nice shape. Its the 7.3 IDI crew cab dually 2wd

OH... I did manage to replace the turbo side head gasket on my truck last Sunday over at Davediele3's along with his help. Another Great 6.5 brother. I only did the one because we already did both sides just last winter... the turbo side one still seeped down the block after we did it back then... so this time, I used a couple coats of copper seal in the spray can on both sides of the gasket (Bill Heath told me to try that) and sure enough... no more seeping gasket. 3 days now and so far so good. First time the block as been dry on the outside since Ive owned it.
