I'll let the pictures do the talking. It's in and still needs some tuning.
This is where I play for a while with insulation, baffles, etc,...whatever to make them push. So far they sound better along with the rear door speaks.
Instead of the backs being the fillers, the fronts are now the fillers - and the fronts sound terrific. Well worth what I have into it.

In hindsight, I could've gone with bigger speakers, and who knows, I may still at some point. What I really wanted to see was to try and make use of that space. Once I settle in I can easily carpet what is there.

Off to play...

I've been playing a little bit with some insulation...:D

I gotta say, it runs really well with the speakers in the rear doors too...it sounds way better than it should. I keep going for drives so I can crank it up.

A simple design I know...but sometimes that's the best way. I can always do more, but so far I'm really happy with the way it sounds.
I replaced the doors speakers too, so now I have 6...my seats shake...

You know - I thought I would need one too. In the past I have designed and built a number of custom auto stereos, but what I was after was getting efficient speakers that could drive off the stock unit. At less than half volume the seats are shaking and the sound is clear with a lot of presence. And I can go near full volume with no distortion. I am really pretty much blown away.

I only have around 200 bucks into this.

Just a bit...I don't have 8 grand for a stereo, but these ears are plenty happy.
Happy enough I carpeted it and called it good...

Very pro looking! Seat fold back in place ok without messing up the new carpet? And what's the sound like with the seat up... still way improved?

Thanks! Not having it finished makes it looks kind of cheap I know. I had to play a bit to see how I liked it first.
The carpet rolls up and tucks above the speakers when the seats are up...sounds kinda muffled...LOL..another reason why I kept the rear door speaks hooked up.

That platform is how I use the truck probably 95+% of the time, the back seats are hardly ever used for people. Work stuff during the week and coolers and our dog on the weekends when we travel with the RV.

Thank you sir...between a little well placed insulation and the carpeting it tightened up the sound too. Much better than a person might think.
Now all I can think of is crap falling into the speakers and trashing the grills...gonna have to think on that for a bit.

Just go to the Local Car Audio Shop, if ya got one by you, and see if they got some Scrap Grille Cloth they can give you, and you'll be good.

That is something worth considering as it is nearly touching behind there.

First road trip with the RV and my wife actually told me to turn it up.
Very punchy clean sound and a low cost alternative with huge returns.
