Hi All,

Could not resist any longer, stopped by my local dealer and had a look. The 400 sportsman is the perfect fit for me.

Will do trail riding, a few chores around the house.

I have not bought it yet, but wonder about them. How reliable is the CVT? Is their any unusual maintenance on them? Is it belt driven? Does the engine have a spin on oil filter?

Would probably only add a Polaris winch, not sure on the blade, since I have a tractor for snow chores.

So trail riding, some chores, and fun is all it will be for.

Are you guys buying the extra warranty, or just taking what it comes with? Can you extend it later, or is it best to buy it with the machine?

Check out this Forum: http://forum.highlifter.com/ There's ALOT of good Info on there.

Have you Looked at any other Brands / Models?

What made you go with Polaris?

This Past Winter when I was Looking for one, I wanted the Sportsman 850XP, but after Talking to People at a few Different Dealers, I ended up with a Suzuki King Quad 750, and have had 0 Problems...and I REALLY put it to Work this Winter with Plowing.

I priced out a 400HO ($5,300 CAD + 13% Tax), called a local Can AM Dealer on an Outlander 400, and the MSRP here is $9K, and he said he could not get anywhere near the price of the Polaris.

Do not need anything bigger than 400, and price is a factor. Have some friends who run Polaris, and they are happy with them.

Yea, Can-Am is gonna be "Top Tier" over any other Brand...even down here in the States, they are ALOT.

Have you Looked at other Brands or no?

I have a 500. CVT has been perfect. Most problems I've had are a few boots get torn and need to be replaced, I also replaced the Speedo once (because the 4x4 depends on that :(). All in all it's been a good atv, but not as good as my 98 Honda.

I have looked at others, and they cannot touch the price of the Polaris. Seems Polaris has a nice little thing going with the Sportsman Line. a 500 is $1K more, but by the time you factor taxes, it is a little more than I want to spend. Dealer said I would be good on a 400, I had asked about the 300, and he advised me no, for a few reasons.

I also want something that will fit in the back of my 1500CC/SB.

Did you pay for the speedo, or did it fail in the first 6 months? Did price out Honda's, but again, real Expensive.

Thanks. Took a new 400HO for a test ride yesterday, and it felt 'light on its feet'. May reconsider and go for a 500HO. Would of test drove one too, but had somewhere I had to be.

So, does the 500HO feel more firmly planted on the ground??

I will be looking at a KQ450 AXI next week. After some of the videos I saw, looks like a nice bike. I love the fact that you have a choice as if you want the diff locked or not.
