I was driving on one of the few freeways we have in AK today went over a bump (road construction) just as I started up a fairly steep hill. About a 1/2 sec later my cruise disengaged. Engine was still running fine I reengaged the cruise and it's been fine ever since. Just curious as to why it disengaged.

Brake pedal adjustment could do this. Maybe able to adjust so it is less sensitive. Just use a test light on the brake switch to see how far down the pedal goes down before brake light comes on. :smile5:

i know i barely touch my brakes and cruise goes out. but saying that i have a pretty long brake travel to get suffcient braking. i did all the brake maintenance though 3 months ago so i know its the way the truck is.

I agree
Likely that the switch is either too sensitive or adjusted wrong.

A PMD failure can show up with the cruise shutting down but with the "BUMP" in the equation I am suspect of the switch.

Keep an eye on the thing and you might try going over the bump again and see if it does it again, if yes then try the bump with your foot holding the brake pedal UP and see if the results are the same. If all is well then the switch is the issue.

If PMD hiccup causes a DTC to pop up, a lot of those will prevent cruise operation. And sometimes the SES light wont be on, but the code is there.
