I am close to relocating my PMD, I got a new one (Dtech) and an extension cable.

I want to use the resistor in the old PMD on the pump (It still works fine).

How do I remove the PMD from the pump w/o taking off the intake?
(I have heard about taking the top 2 bolts and shearing off the bottom 2)

Also, how do I get the resistor out after I get the PMD off?

Thanks,

Nick

I got mine off by useing a 1/4 drive ratchet, universal, and allen socket. Just leave it plugged in when you unbolt it and then pull it up gently and unplug. The use a small dental pick or paper clip to pull out the resistor. Or like mfgguru said just pull the resistor and leave the old one on the pump wont hurt a thing.

I purchased a new from Heath Dee a couple years ago...just to pass some time away...decide to remove to old from the IP, without remove the air intake... filed down at the small end of a 3mm Allen Key to next to nothing tied & taped some string at the other end just encase I lost it down in the V-ally & I did , got it removed & as to date it sit in the glove Depot..

Hey Paul - good to hear from you again! Don't be a stranger, OK?

Nick - we did something close to what Paul is talking about - took a slot cover from a PC, drilled a hole in it, stuck a torx bit through the hole and TIG'd it in place then cut off the extra. Made a handy little rt-angle torx wrench.

But mfguru is right... a dental pick is WAY easier.

Well I finished today with everything.

You can get the PMD off with a 2mm Allen Head and something to make the handle longer (Wire is what I used)

Making it magnetic helped alot too.

Then when there is little clearance, I ground down the allen head to fit and we were good to go. Mounted a new DTECH PMD in the bumper with the resistor.

One Q though: I have a #4 Resistor in the truck now, any need to change? And was a #4 stock???
