Thanks guys Truck has been running out standing ! ! ! not one goof up yet fires right off run great pulls. . .well pulls steady. truck seems to have a good bit more pep to it little better milage.

Tho after picking up my buddys Blazer from the trans shop we lined up and i got toasted by his stock 4.3L blazer with 30 inch Mt's did not make me happy but my truck wasn't really a performance Rig anyhow i guess. . .

it still got up and went way better than i have ever seen it go all tho i have only stepped into it hard 3 times now i have to say this was its best run. . .

thanks again guys.

the 4.3 v6 is an awesome engine, the best 6cylinder GM offered in light truck/suv application, like a 350 with two cylinders chopped off. Lots of power and low end torque. I wish GM would have put it in the camaros instead of that 3.4L and 2.8L crap.

So dont be too embaressed, hes a lightweight at like 5000lbs compared to you at a ton or better more.

put the torch away

I had him all threw 1st gear till she got up to about 3200-3300 rpm once she shifted into 2nd gear he pulled way.

I just thought with the extra crap he has stuffed inside of it with the over sized tires i might have had a sporting chance. But nope another of my V-8's goes down to his V-6's.

Our last race was his 4.0L V6 ford against my 5.8L ford both 95's. exp v.s. F150.
So i'm used to losing to him.

I think my truck was just set up to be a driver anyhow as i think its only got 3.42 gears and with them 7.50-16's. it only cruises down the high way at like 2250rpms.

I have a 90 4.3 V-6 gasser with some tweaking done to it in a short bed C1500, very spry until you hook it up to some weight, load his bed to match the weight of your truck then have a go, see if it evens things up some.

He's Rig is a Blazer tho guys not really a bed to add weight to. . .

I don't think 3.42's and 7.50-16's are really helping me much either.
In OD 70mph@2250Rpm Truck just ain't really geared for going or towing IMO but it drives nice good milage.

Not saying it dosen't tow or it won't tow, I have hauled 9,000lb truck on 2,500 trailer it towed it just fine, But it was Rather doggy it wasn't only a little doggy towing a 6,000LB 1500Ram or My F-150. So yes it will tow just IMO its not geared for towing.

I think 3.73's would have worked out better with 7.50-16 tires but I'm not a GM engineer. . .

With my truck and my son's 97 Jimmy 4.3 it was very close until the Heath tune up and then I could spank him bad. But he doesn't give up easy, he traded it for a '03 Dodge Heavy Duty 2500 4x4, 4 door with a Cummins, stock (305 hp /555 torq) Unloaded it would be close as mine accelerates great, but loaded I'll be eating his black smoke.

I got told with 7.50-16's being 32" tall my truck may already have 3.73's I know the GM dealer said the it was an optional tire size till the body style changed.

the service guy said:
"the only guys who got that tire size were guys who wanted a heavy lugged snow tire or a highly aggressive Mud tire"

"they mainly went on truck that got used off hi way 90% of its life so very few ordered them that way"

PowerKing:

IMO the first powerking is like a Supertraction Mud tire and the second is a Supertraction Snow tire and the Cooper appears to be a blend of the 2 types of tire.

My truck came with a like new set of the power king super traction snows on it when i bought it used from the dealer 3months ago. I was thinking of getting a set of the Cooper traction LTs this spring as my Summer tires as the truck came with 2 sets of rims Nice American racing with the Powerkings on them and a set of Mickey thompsons with no tires on them.

Idealy i would love to switch it over to 19.5's and never have to change tires again.
