Has anybody else had a problem with the 6 bolts on the plenum stripping out? the 1 center bolts on the raised portion of the plenum have both stripped and leaking out..... any good fixes besides helicoil?

Have of them on my 94 are, some times I open the hood and bolts are gone. I just good to a bigger size bolt. helicoil would be best though IMO

Yes, one on the passenger side is about to give (or already did but am in denial...) Retapping for larger bolt should work. Cannot use fine-thread because the alloy is too soft.

If that fails, then helicoil would be the next to try...

Regards,
Franko

I thought one of the two center ones was stripped out, turns out I was using one of the corner bolts that is shorter...live and learn. I did pick up a Helicoil kit for it though...just in case.

GM cheaped out.

The stock bolts weren't long enough, I put a rag down inside, ran a tap through, measured the two pieces for new bolt length, Bought new longer bolts, put lock washers on top and no more problems.
It won't be the last time we find the General cutting corners!

I tapped mine out bigger and went SAE too I think 5/16 maybe 3/8 I dont remember for sure. I already had it off so chips werent a big deal, but if you do it while it is on make sure you stuff the rags in her and get out the shop vac.
