Pleasantly surprised with PPE Hot +2 economy

I just made a 2500 mile round trip through Texas, and played with a couple of tunes on the PPE.

I had it on Level 9 for a couple of tanks, and got in the mid 17 mpgs on those tanks.

The pleasant surprise was the Level 8 setting. I believe that it is in the neighborhood of a 315 hp tune. I got 19.768 and 19.354 mpg (hand calculated) on two consecutive tanks with that tune yesterday, running 70 on the Interstate. Quality diesel and the fact that I chose not to step on it hard probably had an effect as well.
 
Good info thanks for sharing , I wish I could keep the foot out of it, and now that I don't drive it except on the weekends makes it that much harder.
 
What do you get running stock at 70mph?

Seriously, I recall getting around 18-19 mpg on the highway 'way back when my truck was still relatively stock. That was on Low Sulphur Diesel (which is hard to come by these days). The best that I have ever seen was over 22 mpg with the Predator on the 85 hp setting.

I forgot to mention that this last trip included 4 adults in the cab, and about 400+ pounds of luggage and crap in the bed.
 
Best I ever mustered out of my 04.5 was 18....That was with Hypertech on level 3. Bud, if you got 22 with the Predator, why did you switch? Looking for a hotter tune?

POWER if i was guessing UNIT.
 
man i dont kno what happend to my mpg, i use top get that kind of mpg out of my lbz but its went down down down.best i can get is 16

I am getting closer to trying it every day.:confused:

I did for a day, but kept pegging the boost gauge at 35 psi and barking the turbo on moderate deceleration. I also do not have dual CP3s, which I understand you need to keep that 425 hp tune fed. The temperature that day that I ran it was in the low 40s, which may have had a minor effect on the boost.
 
I loaded it up tonight so we will see how it does. Being a manual I lose most of my boost on shifts and only need the fueling in moderate bursts.

Ill post my findings tomorrow. :sifone:
