Very nice! Identical to the one my neighbor uses as his fuel truck on the farm, except his is a 6.2 I think.

Yup.
My first thought was a prior owner couldn't afford enough gas to burn it to the ground. Empty gas can when it got to the selected spot and all...
I bet the "Remove troublesome ECM and restrictive TBI" repair has the pickup getting out of it's own way!
Yeah nice looking for it's age and survivor of the normal work truck beatings that most went through.

Why?
The in tank pump stopped functioning, so instead of fixing it properly, the PO wired up a parts store electric pump with the pick up going into a gas can. It's part of why it was so cheap.
Incidentally, the radio and electronic heater controls also aren't working. I can't help but think all three are related.

bad fuseable link on the starter or up at the firewall distro block? (can't remember what year GM stopped using the link wires at the starter location) other than crawling down there to check. see if there are several fuses in the box without power. could also be a faulty ignition switch too. other thing is if the PO did any work on the starter and didn't connect that once link wire to the battery cable.
