P400

Planning on blowing up an engine to need one? :hihi:

My mechanic is in the process of putting one in my burb right now. :hihi:

Some things to know, you will need to change the oil pan if you are installing in a 4X4. I purchased the motor from Peninsular and they modified the oil pan to fit. The bell housing bolts will need to be changed out since the P-400 threads are metric. I noticed the oil filter adapter was set up vertical, that will have to be changed or install a remote oil filter.

Other than that I do not know anything else, I'm sure some stuff will show up as this process moves along.

What questions do you have?

Brian

Brian,

Did you purchase a long block, or was it a complete engine? If complete, what kind of IP does it have on it. Do they include a chip for you (OBD1) or are you going to get heath to retune it? Or someone else?

Are you going to intercool it?

I would love to see some pictures when you get it complete....dyno sheet would be cool too!

It is a long block with altered oil pan, valve covers, and metric bolts for the bell housing. I kept the stock compression ratio, Peninsular will happily drop the compression ratio to 18:1 for a fee. We will use my current injector pump, it is only 3 months or so old.

I also had them put in injectors, timing gears, high output water pump and dual thermostat housing. I also purchased exhaust manifolds, a new crossover, fluid dampner and oil cooler.

We are going to keep the injector pump, injector lines, ac compressor, power steering pump, fan/fan clutch, turbo, intake manifold, and alternator.

I do not plan on inter-cooling it, I never tow, I just need her to run down the road at the speed that tickles my fancy.

I have a new ATT turbo and already have a new heath tune that works with the ATT so those will be reused.

I hope to have time to get some pictures.

Brian
