P400 + Allison 1000 in '97 K2500 Suburban?

THe p400 is definitely possible . It will require a custom oil pan to fit the gmt400 chassis. The allison will require a stand-alone controller or some way of integrating a GM control to the 97. Any thing is possible as long as you have enough money. A 4L80E tranny should be able to take anything a 6.5 can put out.

No reason for an ALLISON behind a 6.5 as they just don't develop enough torque to need one. A 4L80E can be built to handle 99% of the 6.5's out there. Not to mention how much HP you lose by having to turn the ALLISON and all it's heavy internal parts. And secondly, there is NO stand-alone controller for an ALLISON trans that actually works. The ONLY controller that can reliably shift an ALLISON is the ALLISON TCM. The stand-alone set-ups use an ALLISON TCM and a PCS box to make the neccesary signals that the TCM needs to function. OR you can try and find an ALLISON calibration for a mechanical engine, but there isn't many of them out there to be found.

Check out the AMG website, they claim the Allison 1000 as something to put behind the 6.5

They also have their own special DS4 IP and PCM apparantly. What uses them I do not know, but there is a DS4 spec'd for AMG and they have some great sensor package and computer control.

If you could get ahold of that setup from AMG and it had the Allison 1000 interface to the PCM, that would be sweet.

If there is a 6l80e controller I would look at that tranny, may need custom driveshaft, because I think its actually shorter, and should fit up to the truck no problem.

That is still a 4 speed though. The TCI I linked is a six speed in a 4l80E case.

One thing is the same. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:yikes::yikes: They both have serious HP and torque ratings.

Aces, I believe it is the new six speed behind the 6.0L Vortec in the HD GM pickups probably in other things as well, but that is the only one I am 99 percent sure about.

What was a 6l90e used in ? I have never heard of it.

The 6L80E/6L90E is teh new 6 speeds that GM uses in the 1500 trucks, the 2500HD's with the 6.0L, and the 6.2L engine in all apps. It is a rather interesting trans as it works simliar to an ALLISON with an all clutch design. The only catch is teh control system. It uses an integral TCM that is actually part of teh valve body, and works completely off of can based comms from the can bus.
