So as some of you guys know, we have a water problem on our farm. Our wells can't keep up with the demand from the hogs, and so we've been hauling water in with a poly tank on a trailer behind the 05 2500 HD Duramax to a large storage tank on the farm, but that's not really safe, it only has surge brakes, etc. We've pretty much determined there isn't a good well on our farm, so we're going the other route.

So in July we'd had enough and went shopping. The truck is a 99 Freightliner Day Cab with a 370HP M11 Cummins and a 10 speed Eaton transmission. The dealer had 4 near identical tractors, and we picked this one since this one had the best tires and the lowest miles. The truck had a few things done to it, namely a new injector, and it appears an oil change and air filter at least. It's got 517,600 miles on it, so it's not new, but for 5k miles a year we'll put on it, it should last a LONG time.

The trailer is a 1982 Polar 6200 gal stainless formerly-milk-hauler. We got it from Hills Stainless Steel in Luverne MN for a pretty good deal. I'm not gonna say specifics, but the truck and trailer total cost less than $38k.

Bottom joint is for the fill, it takes 20 minutes to load the tank at the co-op, and 40 to unload at home (restricted by the 2" hose at home)

Motor is a GX200 Honda, starts first pull every time and burns almost no gas. As much as I love American stuff, even my Briggs and Stratton-die-hard HS Ag teacher agreed that the new Hondas are far superior to B&S. He even said the Honda knock-offs are better than B&S....

Thanks Mike, it's been a great truck so far.

I won't need a CDL (at least for the time being), but it's kinda in the air as to whether our Hired man will/would need it to drive the truck. I don't think he does, but we'll see. I guess we're all (My dad, me, hired man) supposed to get a CDL Physical, so we'll probably do that next year, as the truck is gonna be parked here in a few weeks.

You could hire me...:)

All endorsements, med card, had all shots, new haircut etc.. :hihi:

Real nice little Freightshaker, the tank is real nice too.

Super 10 or straight 10?

I think the law reads on farm plated CDL vehicles,,,,,,,,,if you are within 150 miles you dont need it. I am not 100% on this though but bout 80%.
Nice ride

3500GMC, it's got the range box, not a splitter, from what I can tell it's the straight 10.

Be a long way for you to drive it an hour a day, LOL.

For me at least within 150 miles of home means no logs, but provided it's for farm use I can go anywhere, just have to log over 150 miles from home on a farm licensed truck. That's what we've been told by people who seem to be in the know, lol.

Wow hogs must pay better than in NC! It takes a lot of water to water them and a huge amount to run a flush system into the lagoon or do yall use some other system than a flush? Hogslats and a pit system or something similiar?
