I been reading anpdf on the optimizer. Says that the crank flywheel bolts need sealant or they will leak. It also says if they're torqued over 65 ft/lbs they will distort the seal area and the rear main will leak.

to the guys who have installed optimizers, any truth to that?

Never heard of that on a normal 6.5 Can't see why they'd be different. I used blue loctite on mine. That sounds weird. If the seal was redesigned I would think the oilpan might be different. Where did you get this info ?

like they said. When i put my flywheel on i just used blue lock-tite and torque to 60 ft lbs. I know there's 2 different length bolts. The manual flywheel bolts are longer due to the thickness of the flywheel versus how thin the flexplate is for an automatic.

I've got 12 point shallow head bolts from Napa in my K-5. My spare engine which was a factory manual had the regular GM 6 point head bolts in it. Not sure what the difference is there save for manufacturer.
