Only 2nd and reverse, wont shift???

I got my truck out of hibernation and up to the barn to work on it. It wont shift at all, its always in the same gear no matter where you have the shift lever. 1,2,3,d and od is all the same gear. I can get up to 45mph so I think its stuck in 2nd and reverse works fine. I heard if the transmission looses power this will happen. Before this happened over about a month it kept shifting at higher and higher rpms until it finaly wouldnt shift at all.

Anyone know what the problem is or what I should check? The fluid is fine, not low and not burnt.

It may be something electrical, I am no tranny expert. But.... I had a similar problem just after I had my tranny rebuilt, it seems that someone wasn't as careful as they should have been when reassembling, and broke/jammed some of the 3rd gear bands, meaning that it was stuck in third gear all the time. It made for slow starts but at least I was able to maintain 55 pretty easily.

Yes both reverse and third were perfect!
