Swapping out my leaking Power Steering Pump w/EVO (what a PITA)

All apart except the 3 hoses.

The high pressure hose is really on there and won't budge (afraid it will break/strip).

Can I leave the high pressure hose and EVO assembly together, and swap as one unit?

If so, what holds it to the tank?

I've pull the two rings off the end, not sure what else hold it on except rust....

Thanks,

I'm not aware of any truck with hydro boost brakes that uses tehEVO system. As far as I know that was only an option on the 1500's with vacuum brakes. As for getting the line off, I would pull the pump and line off together, and clean it off with brake cleaner, then spray it in penetrating oil, and heat it with a torch right on the nut and see if you can get it off that way.

My wife's 98 1500
and my 98 2500 HD has it, i should say "had",cause i pulled the connector on the pump cause of to many near accidents when i lost sudden steering.

That line nut will give,..just reef on it harder.
If you're afraid to round the nut and you can reach the nut from above, use a piece of rod or flat bar on the side of the nut near a hex edge and give it a couple hard raps with a hammer, then use the wrench again..i loosened many tight nuts like that that wouldn't budge with just the wrench.

IIRC matt bachands 97 1 ton had it also.

Hadn't ever seen an OBD2 with it as I'm pretty sure my buddies 00 3500 6.5L didn't have it. And I know GM did away with it for the new GMT-800 trucks as my 01 donor truck sure didn't have it as that pump is in my BURB right now.

got this off of rockauto it's a cardon pump

Well as per my other thread on loosing fluid from the cap my 97 has it. I read somewhere I thought that 96 and on has it which would correlate with the move to OBDII.

Cheers

I know 96 didn't have it as GM didn't release it until 97 to compete with JEEP who was bringing it out in 98.
