What else do I need to do to get the trans out on a K2500? I have the trans support cross member out. I am hanging up on the transfer case and the starter nose-cone. Is the starter the last part to come off or do I also need to split the transfer case off the transmission before the 4L80e comes out?

Last time I pulled a trans on this it was attached to the engine and I pulled the entire powertrain out at once. So dropping just the transmission on a 4X4 is something I haven't done exactly.

Really just want to swap the converter, but, it is best seated with the trans out and I don't think there is room to get just the converter out under the truck.

I split the transmission and transfer case on my NV4500 ( truck is shortbed excab). Won't the torsion bar member interfere. Cant answer the starter as I can separate the bellhousing.

Yes, the trans and transfer case MUST be split. No other way to get it out around the front torsion bar cross member.

Not only must the transfer case be split off but the transmission must still be on the engine for enough clearance to even get the transfer case off. I had to put the trans back on the dowel pins to get the transfer case to come completely off.
