I had an oil leak on the original lines at the fitting near the cooler not that long ago and went with the factory lines against the body of knowledge here figuring to save a buck and that if the new lines lasted as long as the old ones that would be enough. Wrong. It's leaking again but to keep it interesting they're leaking at the junction on the block side.

I ordered a kit from Greg minutes ago. Live...learn. At least I'll know how to get 'em out this time and it's due for another oil change. I'm just hoping that the drain part waits until I'm on the lift.

I paid over $150 for a set for my 91 -6.2 from the stealer. They started to leak within 2 months. Luckily they didn't blow out ,just made a big mess for 2 years. As you now know ,$250 isn't too bad considering they will outlast the truck for the lube specialist kit.

You can break life down to a simple question. Pay now, or pay later. Choosing the pay now path will always lead you better. Of course its always easier to pay later.

Agreed, though until I know whether I'll have a job come fall, the "gettin' sloppy" front end has to wait until I can't hold a line any better than Kyle Busch...and that'll be a while.

You're telling this to the guy who has one head rebuilt, and one wheel bearing assembly changed without doing the other sides.................... I'm with ya.

Wow! No chroming dog turds with you!

I absolutely lost faith in replacement parts. Just like your oil cooler lines.... No where near lasted as long as the OEM's did. Parts are junk. I'd rather keep things and keep a close eye on suspected areas then swap out a working unit for a replacement. No faith.

Dan,
I was in the same exact boat about 2 yrs ago. Went with the GM replacements as they were available right now. Same thinking as you - first ones lasted 13+ years and there is no way the truck is lasting another 13, so why not. So far so good for me, but I get a good look at them whenever I am under there....

Seller gave me a set of OEM oil lines when I bought my '99. It was on his to do list as the lines are leaking. A Lubrication Specialist kit should arrive this week ;-)

I went with custom lines because they could be made right now, whereas GM's or Dorman had to be ordered. OK, that and they are so much better.
