replaced the big o ring at the oil filter adapter. still leaking the same amount. I was gonna cry but I looked underneath and don't see it leaking there anymore. I thought maybe the o ring popped out partially or something, but now there is still a steady leak down the driver side outboard from the oil filter area. Doesn't appear to be a splash from the filter area either. cooler lines are wet at the connector but don't appear to be the leak. Back of block with all those Plugs?? maybe? and the hard starting problem has returned. fuel in return hose no air bubbles now. if i can stop the oil leak i can back to the starting problem. my next step is to bypass the lift pump and tank with a hose off the filter housing into a can of diesel. If still bad then maybe that giggiling i did of the filter housing maybe helped a leaky seal when the problem temporarily stopped. Sarge are you still there?

some of the 6.5 blocks use a drain tube at the back of the valley (to keep crud out of the clutch) and could be the source of your leak. It might also be fuel from a leaky FFM, hard to tell the diff from oil as it picks up oil residue in the valley.

no diesel smell...too much of a leak of oil I think. I hope that o ring is in place cause i borrowed those big tools. But I don't see the leak coming from the top of the adapter like before when running or the bottom of that big bolt. It's tight. didn't want to over tighten it. Left some position of the filter to crank it clockwise later if need be.

Check the ops. The oil pressure sensor at the back of the block driver's side top. If it is loose or blown it will leak. It threads into a brass 90 ish degree fitting that can also crack from abusive installs of an ops...

i found a leak in the output oil line. just a small hole i think. it made me think that the oil filter adapter leak was getting worse. i will clamp a piece of fuel line hose split onto it which has worked for the last leak. other leak was rattling again something but this one seems to have sprung up on it's own. electroylisis in the oil???
