it may look a dumbass question, but which filter to choose?

I know I have to stay away from the FRAM PH5, but wether it is ACDelco or AmsOil, or Wix, which one to choose? Full flow? with or without anti drain back valve? and what is this anti drain back valve for? :???:

Dont know much about the Amsoil but I can say the Wix is a great oil filter and the AC is a midline product at best anymore. Personally, I run a Baldwin or a Mobil 1 filter.

I usually use Wix for everything, or NAPA Gold...same thing. I am going to start running Amsoil on my next oil change.

There are a lot of opinion on this topic.

Being that you are in a rather secluded Island in the Pacific Ocean, it makes the issue a little bit more complex also.
You may want to buy more than 1 obviously and try to find a seller that can shipped it there.

I think your thought process of not using Fram or its rebadged is probably the most important.

Now, it depends on how much you want to spend.

At the lowest price point, there is a few like Purolator Premium (White), Napa Silver, Mann, etc.

At the middle price point, there is Purolator PureOne (Burn Yellow), Bosch, Wix, Napa Gold, Baldwin (Red).

At the high price point, there is Bosch Distance Plus, Amsoil EaO, Mobil1, K&N.

So, just take your pick, all of them are good and depends on how you want to get them.

If ACDelco filters are easier to get in your location, the PF2232 (Duramax filter) is a stronger filter than the standard PF1218 filter for the 6.5.

Mobil1 usually available in Part Store like AutoZone in US.

I have seen some Baldwin at Ebay. Kennedy sells Baldwin also.

Wix is available through Fleetfilter dot (fill in the blank).

Bosch and Purolator PureOne are available through Amazon.

Thanks for the links louis ^^

So I need a M1-302 (Mobil1). Not easy to find, none on eBay....

I've compared the 6.5L and DMAX Wix/NAPA Gold filters in store and they are almost exactly the same size also. Plus I have bought them off of ebay in the master packs for a little cheaper than I could have gotten them around here. Being out of the states it might be worth looking into that. Just a thought.

I just put a Bosch unit on my truck last week from Autozone, It was the same size as the ACDelco DMAX filter they carried too.

How did you like that Bosch oil filter? I just bought one for a dmax to put on my 6.5, i havent put it on yet not due for an oil change yet

WIX! I use the 51060R Its a Racing Filter so it has the 500 PSI burst 61 micron and anti drain back valve, Wix sent me a case of them and Mobil sent me 30 cases of their Turbo Diesel Synthetic Truck Oil, God I love Nascar

Yes, I was wondering aboutr the R ones.

The 51060 flows less (9-11 GPM) and is rated at 19 microns.
The 51060R flows up to 28 GPM, rated at 61 microns.

So I was wondering if may be the mesh of the R is too coarse? Too coarse to catch soot particles? May be it should be budled with a By-pass 2 microns filter to do the best?

Bump ;), any opinion about these 2 WIX ?

IIRC, the "R" means RACING.

No real opinion but it has less filtration ability with R which focus more on flow.
I am not sure but I suspect that the oil is changed more often in a racing environment.
Engine longevity may not necessarily the focus, either.

IMO, for personal usage, I would use the regular without the "R".
Better filtration means the oil last longer since it stays cleaner.
Of course, I am not sure on the significant difference between 61 micron and 19 micron.
