I think the obd1 system on a 93 doesn't do much, abs and some auto tranny stuff, so if I have a manual tranny now how or what would need to be removed or done to prevent the check engine light coming on ? I unplugged the sensor on the oil pump drive, it is of no use now, and the check light came on, I don't really want to remove the bulb... I plan to remove the wiring for the auto at some point ...

The ECM on 1993 diesel is ONLY for the auto trans. I believe the rear ABS is also a seprate self contained unit. Disconnect the ECM and remove the dead weight. That will turn the light out. I am assuming it doesn't have EGR or other oddball maybe's like 4 wheel ABS. Cruise is a separate self contained module as are the GP's.

93 doesn't have an ECM, it has a TCM. There is no electric controls to the 93 6.5l engine. The 93 TCM may be of use to somebody else with a 91-93 6.5l diesel, but that's about it.
