Ok well I just seen some old post and what not showing a 6 position chip for obd1 trucks. I was thinking if I'm going to spend a few hundred on a chip I definitely want the 6 position or I want to be able to control it. I know we're not allowed to discuss other vendors and what not but I can't find any controllable chip are they obsolete or very rare to find?

Thats the buddy chip. Tom is a member here I believe
He was a member here, but has not been here in over a year that I am aware of. He rubbed many here on the site wrong with his attitude of how he felt he should be able to sell his product here for free while others paid to be site vendors all because he said he provided help to the members here and that should give him the right to do so, yet many myself included provide technical help free of charge and expect nothing in return for trying to help others.

That's the whole point of having a good community is to have free support and to help others out because you want to help not because you want something in return.

I have his 3 position chip and love it. However if going for full race/power I think some others may offer a better tune but am not sure because I have only had his. A lot of people try to tell you that one good tune is all you need and I completely disagree. I switch mine back and forth all the time. There is no way I could tow in my highest setting. EGTS would go through the roof and my motor would melt down. But also I couldn't pull off near as quick 0-60 times in my tow or economy tune. It is so versatile and I couldn't do near the things I do with my truck on a single tune. All that being said, why is he the only guy making them. Does he have a patent or something. Why doesn't anyone else offer it. I talked to Mr heath the other day and he was surprised to hear that I had one and said they did sell them quite a while ago but there where glitches with them and stopped. Have that tune is the single best thing I have done for my truck. Why doesn't someone else with the know how make one. I have seen this thread topic too many times and it always ends in hurt feeling (mine did). Obviously there is a for market for them because this topic keeps coming up. So why doesn't anyone look into it?

That's the whole reason I want one I want something to control so it's not on 24/7 like a normal chip is. I mean I wish one of the site vendors could get them.

Not trying to step on any ones toes or start anything just looking for what I want and what I think will bennifit me the most.

Talk to Leroy, IIRC he offered chips by "Kojo", and he could make ones with multiple tunes.

There we go. A paying vendor that offers this. Now if someone would advertise it I bet a few people would be interested.

Were working on a 2 position Eco/Tow tune. More settings than 2 is going to be very difficult to tell a difference in IMO.

I only run a 2 position tune in my DURAMAX, and IMO is ALL you need. There just isn't a need for more than an all out tune, and a safe tow tune. A GOOD tune should have NO problems writing a tune that can do everything but towing for a 6.5L. There just isn't that much fuel available in a 6.5 to dictate needing more than 2.

I guess but sometimes it's fun to have multiple options like race mode eco tow high idle I know we can do the high idle mod. I mean I had a single tune on my 5.9 360 gasser it was fun but got old after awhile because it was always in Mopar performance mode and I had a exhaust and everything else done to the truck besides a new cam and headers but a single tune was only fun or good for certain things. Like racing which I didn't do and doing some good burnouts lol.

My point is a race tune CAN be a daily driver tune if written correctly. My daily driver tune gets decent milage, and yet when I get on it I know I'm putting close to 400HP to the wheels. Yet it drives rather mild mannerred if I'm easy on it. I know alot of people want more tunes, I just don't see the point. That and a stock tune is 64MM3 of fuel roughly, and even an all out race tune will lucky to put down 92Mm3 of fuel, but more realistically 87-90MM3 of fuel. A tow tune is probably going to be in the 75Mm3 of fuel range, so the extra 12MM3 of fuel or so really isn't that much.

True but I'm versatile I'll be rowing my bass boat soon and daily driving it so I need something to do both.

Two is better than one for sure. I personally think three is the perfect number but I sure we could argue this topic for a good minute if we let ourselves. Seeing as it is mostly just your preferences or opinion.

Well said. Plus I need a boost in my ego since I sold my 7.3 and my gf drives a 7.3 [emoji17]. This is her truck that I gotta compete with lol.

Ferm is way more knowledgeable in tuning than most and what he is saying is true. As much as I'd like to sell a 3,4,5,or six tune I would not feel right knowing there is in real world driving no difference compared to a 2 tune or even just a good 1 tune. I can see the eco/tow tune being useful though, but like Ferm said once you get to a certain fuel rate (also timing) you don't gain anything.

All I ever wished for is 2, max economy and max power. I figure if I want 75% I just ease up on the pedal a touch in power mode. I've had rigs with ones like the 6gun and such.

Money is really the question for the guys who want more than 2. How much more are you willing to pay to have a choice of 3 vs 2. Or 6vs 2? If you would spend an extra $800 and pay in advance, for it I'm guessing that is worth someone's time. But there is not a big market for it so since they can't sell a ton of them, they have to make a lot per unit to be worth giving up half a years worth of weekends...

Just my impression, am I wrong?
