The threaded one is teh return or dump line off of the IP. It has a spring loaded checkball inside of it I believe to regulate internal IP pressure to the 4-6 factory spec.

IIRC, SS sells the "Return Regulator" .......He's the only one I've ever seen offer one.

Here is the description, Just like FERM said.....;)

Fuel pressure regulator/check valve for all 6.5 trucks, all years, Including all C/K trucks, G/P trucks, Suburbans, Tahoe's Yukon's, Van's, School buses and Hummer H1's. Fits and is correct for all DB2 and DS4 pumps, mechanical or electronic injection.

On the 6.5 injection pump the regulator is built inside the return line fitting. It maintains the required 3-5 psi fuel pressure. It also acts as a check valve to prevent the reverse flow of fuel to the tank while the engine if off.
If your fuel pressure is low, it may be a bad regulator valve. Symptoms of low pressure are stalling, hard starting, and a hesitation or stumble on acceleration.
To check your pressure use our test gauge ssd-242 or permanently mount our ssd-215 gauge kit.
Installs in minutes with basic hand tools.
Also fits all 6.2 diesels too!

Something like this might work and be cheaper. I do not have a price, but if interested I will check on Monday.
Its a one way valve with a 4.5# spring.
Drill out (if needed) the old fitting and install the new one in the line.

If you could check for me please. I may have a use for something like this for the BURB.

Is this "regulator" in the actual return line/hose.....or is it attached to the IP and the return line connects to it?

Any pics of the location?

Its something on every IP to begin with. I could have sworn it should be higher pressure spec than that. Although its the one spec not mentioned in the DS4/6.5 training manual I have. It might be better to bump it a couple psi.

Got a price, but there is a $200 minimum order from this supplier. The valve is $19.99 and has a buna rubber seal. More chem resistant valves can be had for More $$. Were you going to use it for fuel?
