Took the 6.5 To Michigan, Left yesterday afternoon Stopped Half way (We are Bringing our grand daughter back) Took off this morning @7am and got here about noon, The truck has performed Flawlessly It went thru the mountains no problem I did have to turn the boost down some to get a good cruising Mix, The first Fuel stop I got 15.5 MPG thats at 70mph and mountains, I Havent check this tank but I will top it off before I head back south So far so Good, Now on to Party

Here it comes, right down the pike.

Still 40* F here but falling like a rock. Rain has passed. Cold front is going through quietly. A little wind earlier.

Well all is well Got Back from Michigan about 11:30 last night, The truck ran great never missed a beat, Lots or rain Never got better than 15.5mpg but that crappy fuel isnt helping, I use Power Service with every tank all in all it went very well

Good for you....seems tho that every truck has their own "sweeet spot" where mileage and cruising RPM are one with the world.

What gears are you running...and what was your RPM's @ 70MPH?

Actually it wasnt too loud at cruise, It has a nice rumble coming up to speed, Im sure I could slow down and pick up the mpg's but Im pretty happy with the results, Diesel is getting pricey though I paid $3.25 to $3.39

Glad you made a safe trip. I used to live in Fayetteville, sorry to not have had the opportunity to swing by and meet you. Not much about Fay that I miss though.

FWIW, I'm averaging 15.5 and lower with the winter blends on a K1500 w/ 3.73s. Mixed driving with 70 at 2100rpm at 4600' ASL. Wide tires and lift don't help either.

I just filled up yesterday as I havent driven the truck much since we got back, The last Tank was 14.8mpg that was mountains and heavy foot, Im quite happy with that, Buying that surplus engine from Ted was the best 2k I have ever spent, it is a Great engine

No its a Military take out, The engine was as close to brand new as it could be, The oil was clean in it still had assm. lube on the insides, Its was built in 2006 By AM General
