As I understand the 95 6.5 k2500 does not have a tacho cable. So where is the cricket sound under the dash comming from. No crickets !!! It seems to be associated with the engine rpm. Has anyone ever had to lube or replace the tach or speedo in the dash due to a chirping sound. Have not tried to tear into the dash yet, hoping for a tip on a simple quick shot of wd-40 in just the right spot, just dont know where yet... hope someone can help. Thanks !!!

Are you 100% positive that the noise is coming from the tach? The speedometer is electronic also. The blower for the heater will chirp like a cricket when the bearings are going out. Loose dash mounting bolts and screws can cause it too. Check out the thread about rattle stop install.

No, not 100% sure where it is coming from. However, I am pretty sure it is not from the blower..... Does the blower run even when switch is turned all the way to the left ( which I think is called off, would need to get in truck to see if it is or not ). Thanks, I will check out the thread you mentioned.

X2. There is nothing but stepper motors in the cluster, tach/speedo. They will rattle but not chirp. Not enough movement to chirp.

Add to the above: I would check AC lines and heater hoses etc for a transmitted rattle to the cab.
