No upper intake gasket?

I just removed my upper intake to install my boost gauge fitting, and noticed there is no gasket. It's been this way for at least as long as I've owned the truck(almost 3 years).

Should I get one? Is it absolutely necessary?

I would, or at least use a thin film of high temp silicone.

I just bought that upper plenum gasket at Oriley's felpro for about 8 bucs irrc they carry them in stock

isn't 8 bucks a ridiculus price for a simple gasket? cheapest I found them here is 6.50 should be a 2 dollar part

Yea I agree there ain't much too it...but after working & buying parts for yrs for my Harley Davidson's I guess that I have become numb

RTV (Red) works, also easy enough to make it tapping it out of a sheet of gasket material

I ran my 6.2 without one,mainly because it was on and off so often.

It is a vacuum, boost, oil, and dirt leak without a gasket. Check your oil samples for silicone with and without a gasket. And oil leaking out on high blowby models...
