my wife tried to take the truck to town but it didn't start so i took a look at it the next day poped the hood and saw a rat run off the top of the engine, now i cant get it to start its cranking good its been plugged in. i dont think its getting gas, the lift pump turns on, i have fuel at the filter and at the t-drain. i am not getting not a sputter out of the truck when i crank, or any diesel smell. how can i tell if the injector pump is getting the necessary power/signal?

i have been checking for them but have not takin the intake off, its still cold outside, how do i check the wires, do they get voltage icancheck?

Remember to check the fuel line going to the ip to see it isn't leaking when you power up the lp. Also pull your air filter and make sure it didn't chew that up or when it does fire up you'll be sucking in paper chunks.

While checking the harnesses make sure it didn't pop apart any of the connectors that could have a broken tab. My money is on a harness buffet the lil' trouble maker had.

Not getting Gas and that is a problem how in a Diesel I know; smart ass :)

Wires as indicated by rest of the folks, possibly popped PCM fuses from short during the chewing ???

How long had it been driven last you said wife tried to take to town? had it been sitting idle long? reason I ask possible corrosion on the main PCM gnd at pass side rear head stud giving an intermittent connection ?

I went through the same thing but for me it was air getting in from 2 spots at the fuel heater gasket (my fasult didn't put it tight enough) and the fuel drain hose had a hairline crack at the clamp. Everything on top looked great so i didn't find the issue till i got underneath. If the rat chewed stuff you would see it right away as they make a big mess of everything they munch on. They like antifreeze too!!
