Truck is a 97 Chev 3500 4x4, manual, borg warner transfer case.

Problem was somewhat intermittent, now does it all the time.

If I either turn on the blower motor or pull it into 4x4
ABS light comes on, blower motor stops, and 4x4 won't engage or disengages if it was already on.
These seem to be tied together. Wondering if it's some sort of ground problem. Pulled apart all the connectors and checked wires for damage to no avail.
I don't know where to go next, but I really need 4x4!

Help is appreciated.

From looking at wiring diagrams.

The ABS system and front axle actuator are tied together. Electronic Brake Control Module controls both.

Heater system uses underhood fuse #3 50amp and interior fuse block #12 25amp
Grounds on left and right of back side of dash.

ABS uses underhood ABS fuse 60amp and interior fuse block #4 10amp and #12 10amp
ABS ground right front of engine block.

I would check the fuses, grounds and then the fuse panels to make sure wires aren't shorting.

Does the manual you have show the specific ground locations. Do I need to pull the dash to get at them?
Thanks!

Probably.

One ground is on the HVAC plenum bracket behind left side of dash.
Other ground is on tie bar right side of dash. My guess is the tie bar is the rod that runs across the truck behind the dash that the lower portion of the dash attaches to.

Can't find more of a location of ABS ground.

I spent most of the afternoon looking for grounds, I found 1 behind the floor courtesy light on the lower/left side of the IP. The manual I have is for a 99 and says there is a ground G202 "on the right side of the instrument panel, mounted to the HVAC plenum bracket.
And G200 "behind the left side of the IP, below the fuse block on the tie bar"
Does you manual say the same thing?

I poked around looking for the G202 ground but couldn't seem to find it. Would that be behind the IP (do I need to pull the dash to get at it).

Is this a floor shifted or push button 4X4? Try checking for voltage next time this happens at the fuses. There may be a chance you are loosing connection at the ignition switch as these loads all run off of the run side of the switch.

Found out today that if I wiggle the wires going into the bottom of the key switch, the blower motor would go, but the ABS light was still on and no 4x4. ABS codes are
C0022, C0026, C0037, C0038.
It's a floor shift.
I hope I'm narrowing things down.
